Hi everyone and welcome to the first ‘Coffee Conversation’. This little feature is based on conversations you may have with friends and family while sipping on a nice hot cup of Joe. It’s a place for light-hearted conversation and subject matter. ‘Coffee Conversations’ also gives us perfect reason to overindulge on the coffee and biscuits, basically everybody wins! The inaugural post is all about why I think you should start watching It’s Always Sunny immediately!

(Well, maybe stick around for the rest of this post first!)

  1. The Show Pulls No Punches.

Don’t get me wrong, It’s Always Sunny is not a show for the easily offended. The show has a ‘mature’ rating and swearing is uncommon (except the Christmas Special where use of the work ‘f*ck’ was permitted). Regardless, the episodes are quite contentious.

The ‘gang’ are essentially a group of twenty somethings that own and operate Paddy’s Pub in Philadelphia. Dennis, Dee, Charlie, Mac and Frank all have very different ways of looking at life than the average being, but somehow that just makes for hilarious television.  It’s safe to say all of these characters are flawed. The addition of Danny De Vito, in Season 2, definitely completed the line up of controversial characters.

I really don’t want to get into revealing spoilers, but if you want to look ahead this Hollywood Reporter Article highlights 10 of the gang’s most controversial episodes ever. This includes an episode where Charlie and Dee believed they were cannibals after consuming a ‘mystery meat’.

  2.  The ‘Gang’ Have Great Chemistry

One of the things I love the most about the show is the chemistry between characters. The sitcom itself stars real life friends and that really translates to the screen. There are often times where you will see some of the cast almost break into laughter and there are a number of outtakes on YouTube that show us a look behind the scenes, and I have to say it looks like right craic.

  3. The Night Man Cometh

Season 4, Episode 13 of It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia just so happens to be a ‘rock opera’! It is definitely a stand out episode for many viewers as it was nothing short of bizarre. Charlie writes a show and has a stressful time getting the rest of the gang to perform. This coupled with some misunderstood lyrics is nothing short of hilarious.

Here’s a great clip from the episode:
